About Gilbert Kubwimana: NGO Founder (Rwanda)
Gilbert started Love with Actions in 2017 when God called him to quit his well-paying job in order to serve children with disabilities. He had seen how children with disabilities and their families were discriminated against because of a common belief that disabilities are a punishment from God. Many fathers of children with disabilities had abandoned their families and children with disabilities were regularly kept hidden in back rooms.
When Gilbert asked God how he could support these children and their families, God led him to 1 John 3:18 which reads: "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." This led Gilbert to establish Love with Actions. Initially, Gilbert provided food and shelter to disabled children and their mothers who had been abandoned. By fundraising and using his savings, Gilbert soon built a center where children receive therapy and their moms can receive job training. Love with Actions has also provided funding for life-changing and life-saving surgeries. Currently, Gilbert works with 46 children from 45 families.
Gilbert is excited to participate in ALI because he wants to lead like Jesus and he knows the training he will receive with ALI will help him achieve this dream. ALI will also equip him to grow his team and share his vision so the work of Love with Actions can be multiplied.
