About Aimable Mugisha: NGO Founder, Engineer, and Soccer Coach (Rwanda)
Aimable Mugisha's birth parents passed away when he was two years old. Two years later, his adopted parents died in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Aimable was adopted for a second time, but to date he does not know if any members of his biological family survived the genocide.
Despite the tragedies Aimable experienced at a young age, he has dedicated his life to serving youth from all backgrounds. Aimable's life was transformed when he accepted Jesus as his Saviour and he developed a relentless passion to help other young people understand their value and realize their potential. Especially those with similarly challenging backgrounds.
After volunteering regularly in his church and overseeing his own projects, he launched Eleven Training Center in 2017. Eleven is an organization that uses soccer training as a tool to share the word of God with young people. In addition to soccer training and discipleship, Eleven Training Center offers mentorship, education support, and clubs focused on exploring Rwandan culture and traditions. All of these initiatives help instil hope in youth – the same hope that Aimable experienced as a young person thanks to the support he received from members of his community.
Aimable describes the heart behind Eleven by saying, "we help kids discover their skills and their potential. Now they are happy and they are hopeful. They know that a promising future begins with them and they are motivated to achieve their goals. We want to inspire them to realize that they can start at the bottom but reach the top." Recently, one of Eleven's alumni was selected to Rwanda's national soccer team.
Aimable's personal vision for transformation is to use his background to inspire youth to believe that it is possible to have a future no matter the challenges they face. He wants to raise a skilled generation committed to using assets available within the community to improve the lives of others.
In addition to leading Eleven, Aimable uses his education as a mechanical engineer to work as a machine operator for Afriprecast Company Ltd. in Kigali, Rwanda. He primarily works nightshifts so he has as much time as possible to spend with kids during the day.
