About Harold Lugolobi: Business Manager and Administrative Expert (Uganda)

Harold was born in Uganda and he now lives in Kampala with his four children. He was brought up in a large extended family that lived in a relatively affluent community. His upbringing helped him develop an appreciation for God's provision and his family modelled good stewardship. His grandfather was a chief and as a community leader he invested in improving education and hygiene practices. His family was committed to impacting lives permanently. Witnessing his grandfather's community involvement helped shape Harold's ability to empathize with others and model servant leadership. He dedicated his life to Christ in high school and his faith has been his compass on a daily basis.

Harold received a Bachelors Degree in Social Administration from Makerere University as well as a Masters Degree in Management from the Uganda Management Institute. Straight out of university, Harold began working in government along with other members of his extended family. He worked as a deputy chief administrative officer and while this challenging role developed his skills, he ultimately realized that God was calling him elsewhere. Using his administrative skills, Harold decided to work with his grandfather and parents to create a community institute.

His family's dream turned into Maro Farm Institute and Harold is currently serving as Maro's Business Manager and Administrative Expert. Maro's goal is to develop the community. His family saw that kids weren’t going to school, water sources weren’t being protected, people weren’t being taught ordinary hygiene skills, and they weren’t being taught how to farm. Harold felt distant from the community because of the opportunities he had been given, but he had a deep desire to try and help where he could.

Harold has seen the multiplication effect of permanently impacting the lives of community members. Harold believes in not just “giving the community a fish, but teaching them to fish”. Maro is improving water quality and accessibility, agricultural techniques, and hygiene practices so that people are equipped to transform their lives. But Harold’s dream doesn’t stop here. He wants to grow his family’s institute so it can support more communities and provide even more services. He says that “by the grace of God I’m sure we will achieve it, and I know that ALI will equip me with the leadership needed to help make this possible.” He hopes that entire families throughout his community will break harmful patterns of living and pursue changed lives through the power of Jesus Christ.

His vision for transformation is a community where lives are changed, where people are empowered to impact one another socially, educationally, spiritually, and through physical health. He believes that a person who is spiritually transformed will make a huge impact through their actions and behaviours. Harold says that “it’s a big thing we’ve been praying for and trusting the Lord for, so we’ve been waiting on God to take us on the roads that will get us there. We believe Kurumbuka is one of those roads, and through ALI we’ll be able to achieve those aspirations.

Harold believes that to start changing his community he needs to change first. Because ALI is focused on education and discipleship, his hope is that at this intersection real change will be made possible so asset based community development can flourish in his organization and community.

Thank you for generously investing in Harold's leadership journey!
