About Jackson Ntakirutimana: NGO Founder (Rwanda)
Jackson Ntakirutimana is an orphan of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. His childhood was hard and he did not experience joy or hope until he accepted Jesus as his Saviour at the age of 10. As the only surviving member of his family, Jackson did not have money for school tuition fees but people he calls his 'guardian angels' empowered him to receive an education.
In 2019, Jackson graduated from the Catholic University of Rwanda with a degree in Commercial Engineering. His interest in business motivated him to pursue this degree but a growing passion for investing in the lives of young people led him to volunteer with youth ministries during his spare time. Specifically, Jackson was a Provincial Coordinator for Youth Impact Mission (YIM), an NGO started by ALI alumnus Sam Birondwa (Cohort 1; Rwanda). After graduation Jackson decided to dedicate all of his time to serving youth by starting an NGO called Young African Leaders Alliance (YALA).
YALA exists to help the next generation of African leaders be agents for transformation in their communities. As a young man whose life was shattered by the effects of poor leadership, Jackson wants to create a new future for Rwanda and Africa. A future where leaders serve their communities, instead of exploit them. A future where leadership is one of Africa's greatest strengths, not one of its weaknesses. YALA seeks to actualize this vision by offering career guidance, community service projects, and internship opportunities for young leaders. To date, YALA has served over 500 young people in seven countries.
As an ambitious young leader himself, Jackson recognizes that he needs to increase his leadership competencies. Previous programs have made Jackson a more capable leader and he knows that ALI will grow his capacity for impact, especially because ALI's vision aligns so closely with his own. Jackson cannot wait to share what he learns at ALI with the young people being served by YALA.
Thank you for generously investing in Jackson's leadership journey!
