About Emily Masaki: Acting School Director

Emily Masaki has a heart for service and she doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit. 

Emily currently serves as the director of a growing school in Rwanda called Iwacu Academy. She balances this demanding role with being the mother of three kids, including twins, volunteering at her church, and pursuing graduate studies. She has also overcome a sudden job loss and financial challenges. 

For Emily, education in the 21st century required a shift in leadership. She is trying to help her school and her teachers teach their students how to learn in addition to what to learn. She wants to give them the skills they need to succeed in a fast-paced, changing, and technology-driven world.  

Emily is well-educated but she wanted to join the Abundant Leadership Institute so she can connect with like-minded leaders in her region and better support her team of educators to realize her vision of equipping students with a 21st century education.
