Peace Bureshyo witnessed her country of Rwanda develop rapidly over the past two decades after experiencing the devastation of genocide. Despite this growth, there has been a large disparity between urban development and rural development, where most Rwandans still live as subsistence farmers.

In response, Peace gained an MBA and contributed to that rural development in multiple ways through her work in microfinance. Recently, Peace joined a new initiative called Kinvest that is seeking to develop rural communities by empowering rural entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. Peace’s role is to develop capable local leaders in the rural areas where Kinvest works. She sees leadership development as critical to help people take ownership over their lives.

Peace was burdened by the mindset challenges she saw in rural communities: dependency on foreign funds, lack of agency, and a scarcity mentality. She saw that people have so much to offer, so much potential, but they often don’t recognize it. Peace applied to the Abundant Leadership Institute, in part, because she was excited to learn more about our unique asset-based approach and apply it within the communities where Kinvest works.

Kurumbuka is deeply blessed to partner with Peace and we look forward to seeing her become the leader God has called her to be and realize her vision for instigating spiritual, social, and economic transformation in her country.
