Dr. Stephen Wandera is an accomplished academic who is passionate about developing his gifting as a leader and equipping other young academics. 

Stephen’s childhood was difficult. He grew up in a rural area of Northeast Uganda and repeatedly witnessed his father abuse his mother. He became the first member of his family to complete high school and eventually achieved his Ph.D. Today he serves as the Chair of the Department of Population Studies at Makerere University, East Africa’s top post-secondary institution, where he is a gifted teacher and researcher. He researches why abuse emerges in intimate relationships.

Dr. Wandera is attracted to the idea of Abundant Leadership and the multiplying impact that comes when we invest deeply into a few people and help them discover their gifts and abilities. He references the example of Jesus and his disciples and the mentorship relationship between Paul and Timothy. Dr. Wandera hopes to take these key principles and apply them in all aspects of his leadership within his academic and church communities.
