About Theophile Sewimfura: NGO Founder and Executive Director

Theophile Sewimfura has an audacious dream to see his hurting people living in healed, reconciled, and prosperous communities. That is far from the current reality.

For nearly thirty years, the people of eastern DR Congo have experienced unspeakable trauma in a land of indescribable beauty. Millions have been impacted by ethnic conflict, rape, disease, and war. It’s a situation that Theophile believes is strongly tied to poor leadership.

Theophile, whose name means ‘friend of God’, grew up in Eastern Congo but received his formal training and early experience next door in Rwanda, including an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies. He courageously returned to his country and founded Africa Restoring Bridges Initiative (ARBI). ARBI is a community-based organization focused on training socio-therapy workers in the province of North Kivu to help victims of trauma, foster healing and reconciliation, and actively rebuild communities. In this, he is motivated by his profound faith in Jesus Christ.

Theophile wants to attend the Abundant Leadership Institute so he can be shaped as a servant leader to bring transformation to other leaders in DRC. His dream is to see local leaders who live out the principles of Ezekiel 34 and prioritize the well-being of those they serve as good shepherds.

We are deeply blessed to partner with Theophile and we see him as a beacon of hope in Eastern DRC.
