About Vicky Kamilo: Researcher
Vicky Kamilo is a young leader with a passion to make a difference in Africa’s youngest country.
Vicky was born and raised in Juba, South Sudan. It is a region marked by continuous conflict. Vicky’s upbringing was not easy but her church community helped her develop a strong confidence in God and hope in Jesus Christ. Through witnessing the death of loved ones, Vicky shares about her journey through trauma and hatred to forgiveness: “it taught me the importance of grieving and letting go as well as forgiving even when it is very hard to forgive”.
Vicky holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and currently works as an Administrative Assistant and Researcher for the Catholic University of South Sudan. She is passionate about youth mentorship and development: “I’m from a country,” she says, “that is torn by decades of war and violence, most young people don’t have the luxury of…[development] or growth because their minds are set on survival mode.” Vicky wants to see young people grow to their full potential and cause of a movement of transformation across her city and South Sudan.
Vicky wants to attend ALI to learn about servant leadership, receive spiritual mentorship, and grow as a leader who can mentor and develop other young people.
At Kurumbuka, we are excited to invest into Vicky so she can make a lasting difference in South Sudan.
