About Christine Icyoyigeneye: Non-Profit Founder (Rwanda)

“I want to have even more courage to go into the home of a young lady who is pregnant without a husband, help her overcome the conflict with her family, and help her find hope and a future. It’s not easy, but it is possible.”

Christine, a young leader making a difference in the lives of other young women in her community, grew up in a vulnerable and under-educated family. However, despite different challenges, she now serves the Lord through a Crisis Pregnancy Care organization that she founded herself. The journey to get to this place, though, was no easy path.

Christine grew up in a small village a few hours from Kigali, Rwanda. Her parents worked hard, but did not see much return, due to a lack of education. Her father fought for this not to be the narrative of Christine's life, as he continuously told Christine that “education was the key to a better future”.  With this push from her father, Christine graduated in 2021 with a degree in business and economics. Christine explains that she chose this degree because “it is a good field for leading and helping others” and that proves true today, as she is now a flourishing leader in her community, making a difference in so many lives.

A few years ago, Chirsitine’s young cousin got pregnant out of wedlock, which is taboo in their culture, causing rejection from her family and friends, isolation from her community and deep depression. Seeing this happen broke Christine's heart, and springboarded her into starting an organization of her own that ensures that women in this same situation know that Jesus loves them no matter what, even if their family and friends disown them.

Christine started to do one-on-one home visits with pregnant young women experiencing isolation and neglect from their communities. Today, her group has grown to 25 young women. She leads them in a Bible study, and is ultimately helping them find hope in Christ. Christine says, “These ladies now believe that they have a second chance to use their lives for God’s glory.”.

As Christine's mission and vision continue to develop, she seeks to not only bring the hope of Christ to these women but also to help them generate income and start careers. She believes that by attending ALI, she will be able to develop as a leader who leads like Jesus and is able to make those dreams a reality.

Thank you for generously investing in Christine's leadership journey!
