About Emmanuel Ange Mulinzi: Non-Profit Department Head (Rwanda)

Emmanuel is the department head for Humanities at Youth for Christ Rwanda. Emmanuel recognizes that “leadership is wide and it is all about influence”. He has had an influence on his community through education. He grew up in Rwanda and is now married and has two children. His father was leading a church so he grew up active there as he would sing in the choir and play instruments. One of his role models is called Canon and he was his secondary school director. In his leadership, he learned a lot about patience and guiding others. He wanted to be a school principal from then on because he wanted to be able to make decisions.

He finished his secondary studies  in 2009 and in 2010 he attended the school of leadership in Youth For Christ Rwanda (YFC) for a year. Afterwards, he spent a year teaching primary school. He then went to university to study education and graduated in 2014. He worked for Youth For Christ as an intern first then as a full time teacher. Last year, he got a promotion as the head of humanities.

He was interested in ALI because in YFC,  there are people that attended the course and they told him about it. Seeing that he already did a leadership course with YFC,  it led him to want to know more. He had leadership positions from high school as he was part of the youth ministry in his home church and was a part of the committee that was helping high school students. From 2012 to 2015 he worked as a Big Brother volunteer in YFC and he saw the impact that the students he was with began to have impact in the community. There is also a prayer movement at Kigali Christian School and he is in charge of evangelism there. They began a prayer group and now the group is thriving and some students who graduated have met with students still in the school to continue to help the community.

At YFC, he has 11 teachers that are under the department he heads and he says it would be impactful for them if he increases his skills. He guides the students as an elder and gives them advice. He loves YFC because of the community and those above him maintain humility even as leaders. His passion is to work with youth in education. He wants to have his own ministry in the future where he is in a leadership position that allows him to continue to impact people. He does not want his department to be dormant and he wants them to grow in terms of academics, spirituality, and in their relationships with one another.  ALI is a Christian organization that offers Christian leadership education. He hopes to learn better and Godly ways to lead his students and teachers. He knows that leaders can impact people negatively and that can have adverse effects on society. As a leader, people expect things from him and he desires to be responsible in how he teaches them.
