About Faith Kavithi, Microfinance Executive Assistant (Kenya)

“Christian leadership is not limited to an organization, it is more. Christian leadership needs to be in our communities, society and nation because when there are true Christian leaders, transformation is inevitable.”

Faith, a Microfinance Executive Assistant in Kenya, has a vision to transform her country by raising up Christian leaders. Faith has a deep desire to spread the Gospel, a desire that stems from her own life journey.

Faith comes from the eastern part of Kenya, being raised in a Christian family as the youngest of eight children. At a young age, Faith came to know Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher, but it was not until later in her life that she was confronted with the question, ‘How is my faith affecting how I live?’. Faith explains, “I realized that apart from going to church, my faith was not truly evident in my life.” After this realization, Faith devoted her life to serving Him, seeking opportunities to spread the Gospel and share His love with members of her community. Her mentors helped nurture and develop her God-given leadership gifts, and she describes that she would not be the same today if it were not for those mentors. During Faith’s university years, she served God through working at various youth camps, her church and by joining a prayer group at the university she attended. Her faith and zeal for Christ was growing, but she did not know that joining this prayer group would change her life.

While at university, Faith became sick and was not able to find medication that would help combat her illness. Time and time again, the doctors gave her different medications, but nothing was working. However, as Faith participated in this prayer group, she describes, “My faith really grew, and I even believed for my healing, and I got healed!”. Since this healing, Faith’s zeal for God has only grown, and now deeply believes that God has chosen her to be a leader within her community and a leader to spread the Gospel. Faith explains, “God has invested a lot in me and put people in my life who helped nurture my leadership skills that now I was to be an encouragement to the next generation and empower them to be leaders.”

Today, Faith is living out that calling as she not only works for a Christian microfinance bank that loans funds to those who need it most but also leads her staff in daily devotions and is a mentor to many. She is actively using her story to empower the next generation of Christian African leaders to lead like Jesus.

Faith is thrilled to be a part of the next Abundant Leadership Institue cohort because she believes that it will give her the tools to better empower and equip the next generation of Christian leaders. She feels that she lacks in practical tools to train leaders and hopes to be able to leave ALI better equipped to lead and train emerging Christian leaders in her community. Leadership helps communities, but Christian leadership transforms nations.

Thank you for investing in Faith's leadership journey!
