About Joseph Angok Mayath: School Director (South Sudan)

Joseph is currently serving as the School Director at St. Mary's Academy School, located in South Sudan. The school is based on the principles of community and church, aiming to provide education to orphans, vulnerable children, and street children. Joseph started the school due to the conflicts in South Sudan that put many children's lives at risk. Over the years, with the help of volunteer teachers, Joseph has been able to grow the school from 36 students in 2017 to now serving over 280 children. 

 Joseph's vision is to see all children thrive and have the opportunity to deeply engage in their own community, nation and the world. He wishes to nourish children in body, mind and faith so that lives are restored and communities are reconciled. Joseph applied for the Abundant Leadership Institute because he wants to become a Christ-centred leader who can develop and conduct an educational mentorship program for his students. He is also excited about the opportunity to connect with a network of like-minded leaders who can uplift and pray with one another.
